Scattering cars everywhere!

caz 2
Rounds 5 & 6 of the Mighty Mini championship were part of the Brands Hatch Mini Festival.   The fans turned up in their droves to witness the characteristic side by side racing.
Last time Team CRS had gone to Brands it had ended in a slightly reshaped mini as Caroline rolled the car at Paddock Hill trying to avoid another car spinning in the track in the wet conditions!! The Mightys were first out on track to qualify and it was a wet track that greeted them and didn’t get much better throughout the 15 minute session, Caroline was a disappointing 20th out of  29 Minis but did manage to save a big moment through Paddock Hill 
The race was in the afternoon and fortunately the sun had made an appearance and dried the track out. Everyone made a good start and Caroline caught and passed a couple of the cars in front of her on the first few corners, at the end of the lap at Clearways some of the front running cars came together scattering cars everywhere to avoid them and the debris. Caroline avoided getting caught up in the incident and started hunting down the cars in front. It became a battle of the girls as three of the five on the grid were fighting for position. A good run out of Graham Hill bend saw Caroline overtake Penny and few laps later she went for the overtake at Paddock Hill on Ella, she managed to get past Ella but Penny was very close behind. The three girls went three abreast into Druids and it was all change with Penny back in front, despite challenging her over the remaining laps Caroline could not get past and finished in 17th.
The second race was on Sunday and was sunny again, the team made a few set up changes to Caroline's car and checked it over ready to race. Caroline made another good start and again gained a couple of positions off the start. As the cars went into Graham Hill for the first time Penny smashed into the back of Caroline’s car as she braked for the entry to the corner. It was another long battle of the girls as Penny pushed her way past Caroline and held up both her and Ella for the rest of the race. No matter how hard Caroline tried she could not pass Penny and Caroline finished in 13th place.
As the half-way point approaches Caroline is sat in 12th place in the championship and David in 4th place.
Next rounds are 20/21 July at Snetterton. CRS have two free tickets to give away contact Ros Stacey rs@crsrisk.com to be entered into the Prize Draw
