Caroline Gilbert TEAM CRS now well on her way to regain the Ladies title

Saturday started bright and sunny, Caroline qualified fourth out of twenty-six. She made a great start in the race and maintained P4 and even challenged for the podium on a few laps. Positions jostled about with the top ten being separated by just 2.5 seconds. Lap 10 saw Caroline back in sixth, a mad last lap dash by Wes Dunford didn’t pay off and Caz maintained her ground, Wes’s car was pushed aside through Broklands! Caroline finished the race in sixth place.  The Mighty CRS just needing a new bumper and the wing re-shaping before race 2.

Sunday was a new race and qualifying session, Caroline qualified 10th with just 0.2 of a second separating the top 10! Caroline again made a great start in the race and by the 4th lap Caroline was fighting for sixth place, again the top ten was inseparable! Caroline avoided a big incident which saw David Marcuson’s car thrown into the air after a bump with Kelvin Fletcher. She crossed the line 4 cars abreast in 6th place but was promoted to 5th after David Marcuson was disqualified for dangerous driving.

The Silverstone race definitely upheld the championships accolade of “the MOST entertaining race series in the UK” The race will be televised shortly on Motors TV. Team CRS now looks forward to Snetterton on the 1st and 2nd of September.
