As a responsible organisation offering environmental and health and safety support we have taken direct action to evaluate its own operational emissions, developed and implemented a Carbon Reduction and Offset Policy, using Carbonfund.org to make Corporate Risk Systems CarbonFree®.
Every year since 2005, CRS has calculated its annual operational emissions from business activities, and then offset CRS annual emissions and thus become a one of the first and only CarbonFree® Health, Safety & Environmental Training and Risk Management Consultancies. The CRS carbon footprint calculation includes all employees’ business vehicle, and airline mileage. It also includes a calculation for the use of electrical energy by staff for laptops, PCs and projectors, heating and lighting of offices and training rooms, training materials and even includes the 3490 miles travelled by the classic Mighty Mini racing car which we sponsor; all of this data is converted using the UK Government’s DEFRA conversion tables into the CRS Carbon Footprint.
CRS’s funding of Carbonfree.org supports independently verified projects around the globe to reduce carbon emissions by the same amount we emit, thereby becoming CarbonFree® . The projects focus on three key areas of Green House Gas Reduction:
- Methane Recovery,
- Energy Efficiency and
- Avoided Deforestation Projects
