Lee Burden an Ex MoD service leaver has a lot to smile about
not only did he obtain a distinction in all
three NEBOSH Courses that make up the MOD Full House package he also picked up
a job offer whilst on the course.
Here is Lee’s story:
I found CRS at a Resettlement
Fair at the beginning of 2013, which was held at the Greetham Valley Hotel in
Rutland. I decided to carry out my Resettlement Training with CRS because they
provided everything I wanted, and they were very helpful and professional in
doing so.
I used my ELC for the Full
House Package that CRS provide for the MOD, which consisted of the NEBOSH
National General Certificate in Occupational H&S, Fire Safety and Risk
Management Certificate and the Environmental Management Certificate. I had an
excellent experience whilst on all of the courses, which were conducted at the
York Novotel within the mid third of 2013. The instructors were great with
brilliant knowledge and real time experience, and they were also willing to
provide additional training in the evenings if it was required. I achieved
Distinction for all three qualifications so the proof is in the pudding. I
would highly recommend CRS for any H&S training, so much so that I have
booked my IOSH SHE Auditing and NVQ Level 5 Diploma with them for Continual
Professional Development.
Whilst on my Environmental
Management Course, I met the HR and Safety Assurance Director of Abellio
Greater Anglia. About half way through the course we were discussing my current
situation and plans for the future. At that point she offered me a work
placement on the Safety and Environment Team which I immediately accepted. The
work placement was a 6 week attachment to the Safety and Environment Team as a
Compliance Auditor. Over the 6 week period I did 27 station audits, attended an Environmental Aspects Workshop and a number of Manager Meetings,
gained experience in Report Writing and made some great friends along the way.
It has benefitted me greatly as I have secured a position at the Ilford
Engineering Depot as a Safety, Quality and Environment support Specialist.
Following my latest successes,
my wife and I have decided that we will stay in Suffolk rather than moving back
to Pontefract in West Yorkshire where I’m originally from. We feel it is a
great place to start a family and enjoy our lives. An additional bonus of
living in Suffolk is the amount of XC Mountain bike races that are held in and
around the area. I take part in as many of them as I have time for, but I have
a long way to go before I keep up with the Elite Group. My family are very
happy and proud of what I have achieved, however my Father and Grandfather were
shocked when I didn’t follow their footsteps by working in the local glass
factory.
I am very excited to get
started in my new job on the 17th February. I have a lot to thank
Corporate Risk Systems and the Abellio Greater Anglia’s S&E Team for, and I
can honestly say that I would not be where I am today if it wasn’t for them.
